Felt Board for Family Home Evening or Other Children’s Story Telling Activities

This is a fun and easy project that you can make as a part of Family Home Evening or some other family activity.  Children love to help make the board and love to use it.

1. Purchase a cork bulleting board of desirable size with wood frame.

2. Measure or note the size of the cork board .

3. Purchase enough felt to cover the front side of the cork board.

4. Purchase additional swatches of different colors of felt to be cut out as frogs, cows, or whatever you need for your story characters.

5. Use staples to secure the felt in place.

6. Use pictures from magazines or trace characters from Family Home Evening manual to cut out felt characters and embellish.

7. Cut out more characters as you need them.

8. Store them in a labeled manila folder for future use.

*Another twist for tweens and teens, is to buy a cork bulletin board of desirable size.

On the wood border of the cork bulletin board, use paint, glue, glitter and stickers to write the person’s name, design art, and use stickers to accomplish a theme that appeals to the person who will be using it.  You can also glue painted clothes pins on the bottom border for more options to clip photos or whatever they want.

Everyone likes to have a “territory” of their own to use in the way they desire.  This is really important, especially when siblings share a bedroom and have limited space. This board becomes “their space” in which they can use push pins to attach photos, ribbons, award, and the list is endless.

Send in a photo of what you made.  We would love to include it on our site.
